Let’s get to know Adrian!

Can you tell me about your career so far?
I’ve been involved one way or another in the Electrical Industry all my life. My Parents owned an Electrical Contracting business here in Adelaide for 35 years, so I’ve always been exposed to the industry. Over the past 20 years I’ve been involved in the Wholesale Industry, Emergency Lighting, Sporting, Commercial, Industrial and Architectural Lighting.

What made you decide to make the move to join Buckford?
I was looking for some new challenges and to expand my lighting knowledge. BIG have some interesting market leading brands that I wanted to be exposed too and get my teeth into.

What does a typical day at work look like for you?
I find myself pretty busy throughout a day, but mostly it’s solution solving and collaboration with the various groups I work with across South Australia.

What’s the most inspiring part of your job?
Working with people on truly exceptional projects. Seeing their visions come to life throughout the entire project cycle. Her Majesty’s Theatre and the BHP Office fit-out are two that come to mind.

What is the best advice you have ever been given?
Don’t be afraid to say “I don’t know the answer to that question. Let me find out and I’ll come back to you with an answer on that. “

What animal do you think most matches your personality?
Brown Bear. Out and about in the summer. Hibernate in the winter.

What are the values that drive you?
Teamwork, Responsive and Resilience. I’m pretty bloody hot on “TEAM”

What’s something funny or surprising about yourself?
Hmmmm. I’m missing a toe from an accident with the lawnmower

Do you have a strange phobia?
Phobophobia
